VBS Day 1: Re-Living My Youthful Days.
By: Ives Leung
I always wish I was a kid again, but today I finally felt like one... a very special one.
As I flipped through the VBS booklet, searching for games to play and listening to the VBS songs I really enjoyed remembering what my youthful days were like. I watched the music videos, trying to memorize the lyrics and the moves for the opening song. I wanted to be as lively as I could be like a kid when I perform. I needed to re-live myself as a kid again because I missed the fun great times where all my moments were spent on enjoying life.
The VBS event brought my youth back into reality, I sat in the circle with the children listening to pastor Fiona tell a parable of the sower and the Great Big Leaf. I almost thought I was a kid again, but unlike the days where I do not remember what stories mean to me I really paid more attention to the message of the stories. I was inspired by the visual elements and the deep meaning of the stories. In the old days, I was always day dreaming, being foolish and immature to understand what was being said to me. However, today I was pleased to see how I was able to listen well and be with the children around me.
Perhaps God was enabling me to enjoy the things I missed out back when I was a kid. But only this time, He gave me another special gift, the gift to receive wisdom from His Word.
Today's VBS verse was:
I have hidden your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you. Psalm 119:11
