Today we taught the kids about unity based upon the story of Esther. Serena did a good job teaching the kids about Esther. Though something very interesting happened during game time. There were some dog droppings on the ground which Pastor Dick did not want the kids to step on. So, he took plates and nailed them on top of the dog droppings to keep the kids safe. Gary, however, had the unfortunate job of removing the plates after the games. Also, there were three more kids that came today. After VBS, we all went to Pizza Hut for lunch which Pastor Dick treated us to. As expected by everyone, the guys seemed to have a stomach like a black hole. We went back to the church and prepared for tomorrow then went on a hike to Butze Rapid Trail, which was quite entertaining. At the end of the trail, we set up a fire and cooked hotdogs for dinner. We then hiked back to the car and drove to McDonalds for a late night snack.
So far in this trip, we have encountered some spiritual needs of the kids. Even though most of them go to church, they either don't go every week or their parents don't go. Also, very few kids understand what it truly means to be a child of God. Please keep this in prayer.
