Book Reading Campaign and Book Report
School is taking a break. The weather is getting hot. While you may want to dive into water to cool yourself off, or may be you can’t wait to go outside and play with your friend, I encourage you also to dive into books and to drink from the great wisdom passed on by others. Besides reading the Bible, which shows you the truth and true wisdom, reading Christian books would also inspire you and encourage you on your faith journey. Once again during the summer, the children’s ministry will initiate a reading campaign. This year instead of reporting how many books you have read through the summer months, we would like all of you to do a BOOK REPORT on ONE of the CHRISTIAN book you have read. You can present it in any written format or style. Here are some guidelines for the book report:
1) The report must be in WRITTEN format. It can be hand written or typed.
2) You can draw pictures about the book you have read
3) Please include a story summary and a reading response to the book.
4) The length of the reading response as follows:
Grade 1 --- minimum 20 words
Grade 2 --- minimum 40 words
Grade 3 – minimum 60 words
Grade 4 – minimum 80 words
Grade 5 – minimum 100 words
Grade 6 – minimum 120 words
5) Content of the reading response might include:
Why you like this book
What have you learned from reading this book
Your favorite quote (sayings) from the book
Any stories or information from the book you would like to share with others.
5) Includes a cover page for your report stating the Name of the book, the Author, the Publisher, and Publication Date.
6) On the back of your report state your Name and Grade
Due Date: September 7, 2009
Please hand in the Book report to Auntie Sita Tsang.
Achievement awards will be given to those who complete a book report, and Honor Awards will be given to each combine grades (grade 1-2, grade 3-4, grade 5-6) for the best written Report.
